What We Believe

In 1995, God led Darren out from his life in corporate America and into his true destiny as the Founder and Director of LIGHT International – a ministry which serves to mobilize a global church planting movement that trains and sends out end-time laborers into their God-given purpose.

As the visionary for the LIGHT movement, Darren oversees all arms of LIGHT International, which includes the Eleventh Hour Initiative and The Harbour Church.

While his first ministry is to his wife Wendy and three children, Savannah, Jesse and Luke (photo), Darren also serves as the founder and lead pastor of LIGHT International’s first church plant, The Harbour Church of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  His heart is to see transformation come to the South Florida region through the local church.  The Harbour is pioneering a relational church model through Home Fellowships to raise up a generation of wholehearted disciples in their identity and purpose for life.

“This church plant is really taking the LIGHT International mission and making it a reality,” says Darren. “God has called us to see this global movement empower a generation to plant churches and our authority to accomplish that mission will flow from this experience.”

Using the New Testament model of believers meeting in homes for fellowship, The Harbour Church has seen a steady growth in regular attendance since its inaugural launch service held in April 2003 – and has already sent out many people into full-time ministry throughout the United States and overseas.

“Our focus is to see radical world changers raised up in The Harbour,” Darren explains. “The home fellowship model truly allows us to get into each others lives, to see people transformed, freed from the wounds of abuse, generational curses, and then established in victory and authority.  Our ultimate goal is to see Jesus possess every area of their heart.”

While The Harbour model in Broward County is in a constant state of development and maturation, its success is leading LIGHT International to aim toward expanding its influence in both Dade and Palm Beach Counties.

“South Florida is known as a church planter’s graveyard, with over 90% of all church plants failing within the first year.  There are so many obstacles you face here when planting a church, both culturally and spiritually, but Jesus helps us overcome them,” says Darren. “We have witnessed glimpses of His glory, but I truly believe He’s got bigger plans. During these end times the only way to contain the harvest that is coming will be large corporate gatherings in stadiums and discipleship and pastoral care taking place in homes. The majority of current church facilities simply won’t be able to contain the massive numbers of whole-hearted followers of Jesus that are coming.”
