History
1995
Darren Davis, founder of LIGHT International,
first received the call to raise up a
generation to impact the nations for the Lord
in 1993 after a missions’ trip to Albania.
After this revelation from the Lord, Darren walked
away from his career in corporate America and
attended Christ for the Nations Institute.
1997
This divine revelation did not become a reality
until 1997 when Darren graduated from Christ
for the Nations Institute and became a missions’ pastor
at Fullness Christian Fellowship in Birmingham,
Alabama.
During
this season Darren and his wife Wendy
began to minister overseas, helping establish
and strengthen the churches and ministries
planted by their former international
classmates from Christ for the Nations.
2000
In January 2000 Darren officially launch LIGHT
International (formerly LIGHT Ministries). Together
with his first full-time staff member, Mark Whitten,
Darren began to sponsor regular short-term outreaches.
2001
A year later, LIGHT International had grown to
five full-time staff members and God
used this team to minister alongside the local
churches in Ireland, Italy, England, Brazil,
Argentina, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Honduras,
Croatia, Albania, Switzerland, India, Vietnam
and Canada.
These trips laid the foundation for
long-term outreach relationships – both
personal and spiritual – that
Expedition now fosters.
2003
In April 2003 LIGHT International relocated to
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and launched
its first church plant, The
Harbour. In
an effort to provide local believers
with an opportunity to fulfill the Great Commission,
Expedition was officially developed by
LIGHT International as a short term outreach
program for The Harbour.
Today
Expedition is now used to effectively train up
and send out believers into the world
as a powerful army of the Lord. Every year our
Expedition leadership team form new relationships
with churches and ministries worldwide, while
at the same time providing ongoing ministry support
to our existing overseas partners – who
we consider our extended family members.
Expedition
is also being reproduced and implemented
in other churches, ministries and small groups
that may not have an existing missions program.
In this way we are serving the body of Christ
at large by empowering them with the same vision
of raising up a nameless, faceless army that
will bring the light of Christ to all people
groups living in darkness.
