“I don’t know that there are really words enough to explain what role LIGHT has played in bringing me to this place in my life,” said Carr, who is originally from Montgomery, Alabama. “Through the work of LIGHT International the Lord birthed many things in me, namely a passion to see Jesus face to face and the outflow of that passion has been to reach others by building and strengthening the bride of Christ around the world.”

Carr is currently serving on the field with Book of Hope, an international ministry based in south Florida that is devoted to providing God’s Word to children around the world. Her role as a Response Team Missionary includes leading 10 day Impact teams (a short-term missions’ experience), leading Book of Hope interns for longer missionary trips and establishing Gospel distribution for Book of Hope in new countries.

“Book of Hope has been an amazing opportunity to spend my time overseas, ministering in the nations full-time,” said Carr, who is also a trans-local staff member of LIGHT. “It was a calling that God placed in my heart back in 2002.”

And her desire to impact the nations led her first to LIGHT international as Director of Expedition, which thoroughly prepared her for her true calling.

“I learned what it is like to live in the day-to-day rather than in the ‘glamour’ that you experience on a regular 10 day trip overseas,” she explained. “Through that I learned life is so much more about my daily walk with the lord than what I am doing for Him in missions or ministry or anything else.”       

Her work at LIGHT gave her a much needed foundation in cross cultural ministry, administration and logistics, pastoral care, and experience in equipping others for international ministry.
 
It also served as a launching pad for her spiritual calling.

“The values that the Lord laid in my life in my time under Darren’s leadership are the foundation for not only my ministry, but my entire walk with the Lord,” said Carr. “I can honestly say, I wouldn’t be here doing any of this had not been for LIGHT International.”
